I did a food tour with Virginialicious this weekend and it was a great time. Mina was an excellent guide and made wonderful selections for food. I was glad to have tried things that I probably wouldn’t have ordered on my own. Now, I can go back and order with confidence. It was a great assortment of foods to highlight Korean culture in Annandale, VA. She also shared some great historical tidbits and made the tour very engaging. We were even taught some Korean drinking games. While we did have a couple of alcoholic beverages, these beverages were not included in the game LOL. If so, us losers may not have been able to drive home! It was a full experience and very enlightening. I will definitely be back in Annandale to revisit some of the restaurants on the tour.

I highly recommend the food tour with Virginialicious. Mina takes great pride in the Korean culture and shares a lot of information to bring everyone else up to speed on the culture.

Mina’s tour is amazing. All of the food was good. She gives the origin and history behind each dish. Outside of Korean BBQ, Kimbop and Bing Soo, Korean food has always been a mystery to me. Mina’s tour helped to ease me into other dishes and be more adventurous with other items on the menu. I’m in Annandale all the time and have passed by all of the places we went to. Never even thought to go in and eat at these places. She even gives recommendations for coffee shops, cafe’s and other eateries that aren’t on the tour. There was a group of 12 on my tour of all ages, genders and ethnicities and EVERYONE enjoyed it. Would give 10 stars if I could. Highly recommend taking the tour.

Soo-Min (goes by Mina) is a fantastic tour guide! I was amazed at her ability to plan a walking tour in such a car-centric community as Annandale. All the restaurants she showed us were fantastic, the food was generous and delicious, and Mina gave us such interesting background and context for everything we ate. I learned a lot, left so full, and kept notes of all the restaurants so that I could go back. I HIGHLY recommend this tour company!

I organized friends to join me on this delightful food tour as a belated birthday celebration. Overall it was a fantastic introduction to Korean food beyond BBQ and fried chicken. Mina was patient, informative, and charming that allowed us to all feel comfortable. She taught us Korean games and pointed out nuances of Kimchi and so much more than just the delicious food. Highly recommend for tourists and local food lovers!

He had a great time on our tour. Mina was a wonderful and warm host. The cuisine, of course, was the highlight, but she also shared interesting facts about Korean history and culture. We even played games (with prizes!). I highly recommend this food tour for a fun afternoon. My husband couldnโ€™t have picked a better experience-based birthday present for me!

Mina started this business after providing unofficial food tours for her friends. You will dine on a variety of incredible foods from unassuming restaurants that you might not have glanced at otherwise. She pairs her favorite dishes with bits of food history, the history of Annandale, and personal anecdotes from growing up in South Korea. She has a gift for creating an inviting community in the short amount of time you are dining with strangers. This was my first food tour and I didnโ€™t realize that Iโ€™d also enjoy the brief walks between stops to digest, and a break from the decision-making fatigue that can come with trying new places. I highly recommend you take some time to sample the excellent cuisine that Annandale has to offer with Virginialicious as your eager guide.

I went on a food tour with my husband and son. What an amazing experience! Sujin was a terrific guide and host. We went to five restaurants and ended up sampling gimbap, tteokbokki, jjajangmyeon, sweet and sour pork, sundubu jigae, bulgogi ssam, and Korean fried chicken. Sukin would call each restaurant ahead of time so the food was ready as soon as we got there. We also walked in between stops so the tour was active but not rushed. Sujin did an amazing job of explaining the dishes, giving us cultural context, and talking about Korean food in general. We had the best time! I recommend this tour to anyone who wants a great food adventure!
Did the Korean Food Tour this past Sunday. What a treat! Splendid food selections. The locations visited were definitely hidden gems. Great way to expand your knowledge of Korean food, the history of Annandaleโ€™s Koreatown, and Korean culture in general. Will definitely revisit the restaurants on our own.

Hi Mina, I wanted to say again how much fun the tour was. Both you and the food exceeded my expectations. I’ve already told my family and friends and I’m looking forward to the next one! I had no idea that so much rich and historic culture was only a few miles away.

I had the best time on this tour! The food was amazing and Mina was such a knowledgeable and thoughtful tour guide! All of the stops were well thought out and allowed us to taste a variety of foods and learn about the culture and history. I loved everything I tasted and cannot wait to go back to the restaurants we tried! I would recommend this tour to everyone. The mission behind the company is wonderful with supporting the local community and I appreciate Mina sharing her passion about the local cuisine with us!

Incredible experience! Educational, entertaining, edible, it has everything! Left with a full stomach and new information! Imagine having a history lesson attached to every meal. Our hostess, Sujin was so easy to talk to and encouraged us to keep asking questions. Will be doing this again in the near future!

We completed a walking food tour in Annandale on Saturday March 8 with Sujan as the tour guide. Kim, the founder, joined us at our first stop since they just added that restaurant to the line-up.

First of all, this was a great food tour. Walking in Annandale is difficult, it’s not setup as a walking town, but the guide brought us safely to everywhere we walked. They had great information about the names of dishes and I learned a lot. For example, bap means rice so any dish with bap in it’s name (like bibimbap) is a rice dish and bibim means mixed so it’s a rice dish mixed with other things. We did not stop at any Korean BBQ restaurants which is more approachable for Americans; instead the tour was about more authentic Korean dishes.

I learned a lot from this food tour and we sampled some really good food. We started with Gimbap/Kimbap which were like California sushi rolls except with a slightly different texture to the rice, and served warm because everything is cooked. We tried the tuna, vegetable, and bulgogi (beef) versions. As a special, we were also given spicy squid which was also very good. There was also a sauced sweet and spicy rice and fish cakes. Very well seasoned and while things were marked “spicy”, I found them flavorful but not very spicy. Banchan which are little side dishes included at each Korean restaurant where we ate, was also very good.

I didn’t love some of the foods we sampled, like the Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) but loved everything else we tried. My biggest surprise was how much I liked the “soft tofu” soup which was excellent. The texture of soft tofu is very different and smooth. I find tofu can be gummy but this was silky. They separated us into 2 groups – those who like spice and those who don’t for one of the restaurants, the “spicy” food wasn’t very spicy.

We sampled about 9 dishes from 5 restaurants as well as a variety of sides (Banchan). All was excellent although I didn’t care for the black bean noodles. I recommend showing up to the tour hungry as there is a lot of food.

We have participated in a lot of food tours, I found this to be one of the better ones – informative with a wide variety of dishes to try.

Looking for an out-of-the-box day date, friend outing, or solo adventure? Dabbled in Korean food, but wish you had more confidence in a restaurant? Or maybe youโ€™ve never had Korean food but youโ€™re k-curious? This tour is a super fun and delicious (and also educational!!) way to spend your afternoon!

I have attended it twice now and would happily do it again! My friends who attended are still raving about it.

Our tour guide, Sujin, was born and raised in South Korea and she speaks knowledgeably and authentically about Korean culture and food. Oh, and she was so funny too!

The restaurants are hand-picked to give you insight into lesser known dishes and exposure to local family-owned spots. I wonโ€™t spoil the tour itinerary but you will leave VERY FULL!! (Yes… you definitely get your moneyโ€™s worth!)

Finally, the logistics are spot-on, it lasts exactly the advertised time and the food was always magically presented once we sat down at a restaurant, yet still hot and fresh!! Thank you Sujin for an amazing time!

My husband and I attended a food tour and it was an absolute delight. From start to finish, the tour was a culinary adventure that opened our eyes to the rich history and flavors of Korean cuisine.

Our tour guide Sujin was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. We learned a great deal about Korean culinary traditions, the fascinating history of Annandale’s Korea town, and insider tips on how to properly enjoy Korean food.

The three hours flew by as we indulged in delicious dishes and soaked in the vibrant atmosphere. Whether you’re a food enthusiast or just looking for a unique and enjoyable activity, I highly recommend this food tour. It’s an excellent way to spend quality time with family and friends and dive into something truly tasty and interesting.

I had an amazing time on this food tour!! The dishes I tried at the various restaurants were delicious and the portion size of each dish was great. I also learned about Korean history and culture. I was very full by the end of the tour. My favorite part of the tour was how knowledgeable the tour guide was, how welcoming the restaurant owners and staff were, and how delicious each dish was. Ohโ€ฆI really enjoyed the Korean game that the tour guide taught us. Thanks for the delicious free gift that I received at the end of the tour.

Meeting Point: It was very easy to find the address and meeting location for the tour.

Distance Between Restaurants: The distance between each restaurant was close. I was able to walk it in heels but I will wear tennis shoes when I do the tour again. I did the tour in December so wearing a warm winter coat was very beneficial during the short walk.

Host: Organized, professional, knowledgeable, fun, welcoming, warm, friendly and generous. A portion of the tour proceeds is donated to a food bank.

Distance from DC: The tour is less than 25 minutes away from DC via car or rides-share service.

Atmosphere: Very welcoming, fun and educational! The tour guide and participants were friendly so you can do the tour solo and fit right in.

Value: I left feeling like I got more than what I paid for.

We had such a fun afternoon with Mina in Annandale. Such a fun way way for us to learn something new in our community and gather full bellies while doing so ๐Ÿ™‚ Mina was knowledgeable about the Korean food in the DMV and also offered really interesting tidbits about Korea as a native herself! Donโ€™t sleep on this tour – it will definitely get really popular and busy (yay!) so do it now while itโ€™s still a hidden gem ๐Ÿ™‚
